The Challenge: As in most countries experiencing similar levels of financial poverty, there is a gross shortage of books and accessible libraries in Tanzania. At the same time, the majority of the current parenting generation did not attend school, and therefore the role many families play in promoting the benefits of reading is often limited or does not exist at all.
KCC’s Solution: KCC runs a mobile library every Friday afternoon (weather permitting!) where we take books from our library at KCC to different locations around the community so that children and adults can come and read. Through this programme, we are also able to meet many people in the community and informally promote the other programmes at KCC.
