Sewing

Talent Activity: Sewing & Tailoring
Managed by: Ally Haji
Current number of students: 20 (2 boy, 18 girls, ages 15-40)

About the activity

The KCC Sewing Programme has been running since 2011 and is run by Ally Haji. The programme is divided into two groups. 10 students are sewing in the morning. These students know already how to measure, cut the material and sew clothes, are able to add their own ideas for new designs, and are ready for vocational training. The other 10 students are beginners; they come in the evenings and are learning how to use the machines, and to measure and cut the material. They will soon be able to sew simple clothes.
The students currently make blouses, dresses, skirts, trousers, shirts, and costumes for the acrobats. They would like to create their own label, design and sell their own clothes.

Long term vision

To send 20 students into the vocational training programme every 6 months.
