The Kigamboni Community Centre KCC

Talent department

Few government primary schools run extra-curricular activities outside school hours, meaning many children have little opportunity to develop their broader skills. With a national secondary school enrollment rate lower than 50%, the current reality is that many children will not receive a full education. Therefore it’s even more important that they are able to develop other skills and talents whilst they are still young. The Talent Development Programme at KCC was set up to provide a range of activities to children and youth. This may enable them to discover their hidden talents and develop a skills set which may even help them to find work in the future. Since we began in 2006, the Talent Development programme has attracted many volunteers from the community who now come to share their talents and teach the children.
