KCC was founded in 2007 to address the issues of poverty and the lack of access to education and other opportunities for youth in Kigamboni. Since then, the centre has been providing free nursery and primary education for children without access to government schools, a social education programme, a broad talent development programme, and a vocational training programme. The centre is run by a team of 26 volunteers, and provides education and opportunities to more than 250 children from the local community. In 2011 KCC established a number of small businesses which it plans to develop in order to generate a sustainable income to cover the core costs of all its social activities.
KCC’s activities are split into 5 distinct and mutually supporting areas:
1 – Academic Education
2 – Social Education
3 – Talent Development
4 – Vocational Training
5 – Enterprise
