The Kigamboni Community Centre (KCC) was born when a group of four people came together from the community. These were Festo, Rashid, Nassoro and George, who after suffering from severe family poverty, parental abuse, lack of education and homeless childhoods, wanted to give back to the community that helped them grow into respectable adults despite the everyday challenges they faced. Of the 100% volunteer-driven Board of Directors of KCC, most of them attribute the success and quality of life they’ve achieved to being saved by a community centre similar to the one they operate today.
With a lot of work, sacrifice and determination, they started teaching what they could to local children in the nearest available shelter. As their pupils began to learn more and dedicate themselves to their education and community, the concept of a viable and sustainable community centre became more and more a reality and a dream. In 2009, KCC obtained official recognition as a registered not-for-profit organization in Tanzania and offers services to hundreds of community members on a daily basis. It is noteworthy that KCC has not received much external funding to this day, and operates solely on the contributions made by its dedicated Board of Directors who act as centre and program administrators, as well as educators.
Shows: We are now performing acrobatic, dancing and drama shows for any organisation, please contact us for details.
